KSRTC bus to the hilltop leaves at 8:30 AM from platform 10 and return bus leaves at 2:30PM, 4:15PM and 5PM respectively. But if you want to enjoy nature I recommend you to rent a scooter or a bike.

By Train: The nearest railway station connected to Nandi Hills is Nandi Halt and Chikballapur. Trains - Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway station Majestic(SBC)- Kolar KQZ Passenger(76551), Channnapatna(CPT)- Kolar(KQZ) DEMU (76525).

Once you reach the hilltop, You, rewarded with most scenic view from the top that stuns you for a moment. Most travelers prefer Skandagiri trek on the weekends with their friends to chill out and experience the beautiful sunset, Sunrise.

Skandagiri is known as Kalavara Hills by locals. This place holds 200 years history, Skandagiri used to be the location of one of the many fortresses Tipu Sultan built for fighting against the British Raj. 

After Tippu Sultan lost to the British Raj, the fortress was dismantled around 1791 ACE. Now all that remains of the fortress are some unrecognizable walls and remains of an abandoned temple.

By Road: There are regular buses from Bangalore to Skandagiri. To reach Skandagiri, you need to take a bus from Bangalore and get down at Chikballapur. From Chikballapur, there are two ways to reach the base of Skandagiri hill. You can either take an auto, which takes about 15 minutes, or you could walk to the base. But I would recommend you to rent a scooter or bike instead.

Some trekking places which are near to Bannerghatta National Park are Uddigebande (3.5KM), a natural rock formation called Hajjamana Kallu(3 KM), Mirza Hill (1.5Km).

Best time to visit Mysore:
Between July to March also I would recommend you to visit during Dassera so you can witness the Jambu safari.

Ideal weekend duration:
One or two days.

Where to stay:
International Youth Hostel Mysore - 270 per day, shared dorms with clean bathrooms and hot water availability, I stayed 2 days in this hostel.

How to reach:
By Air: Mysore Airport is very near to the city center (12 Kms) and well connected to all cities of the country.
By Road: Mysore is 145Km from Bangalore. You can reach Mysore from Bangalore Government Bus station ticket would cost ₹260 - 300 for one way ride. 
By Train: The nearest train station is the Mysore city Railway Station (MYS).
The train ticket price is ₹70 unreserved tickets. I took the train from Bangalore Railway station (SBC) at 7:00 in the morning which would reach Mysore at 9:30AM.


05. Chikmagalur (245 KM from Bangalore).


Chikmagalur is one of the most beautiful places in Karnataka and an important place to visit near Bangalore. Now I will guide you to make a budget trip to Chikmagalur.

Chikmagalur is a western ghats hill station that is full of enormous beauty that embraces nature covered with the famous coffee plantation, Karnataka's highest peaks, mesmerizing waterfalls. This wonderful landscape attracts tourists and trekkers, solo travelers from all over the world.

In the Mansoon season, the place looks absolutely like heaven. I visited in November but it was worth to visit this place.

Young solo travelers visit Chikmagalur from August to November. The benefits of traveling in these months are to witness beautiful scenery nature in the monsoon season.   

Nothing can beat the feeling of watching moving cloud from a hilltop while drinking a hot cup of tea.



One of the best destination to enjoy nature with your buddies as well as by yourself to trigger your inner feelings.

For budget travels you can find Homestays, Rooms, Lodge in Chikmagalur City as well as at the hill station. I booked a room from the booking.com website for ₹450. But you can find good homestays from ₹250 to ₹500. 

Reaching Hilltop may be a big burden if you do not have a vehicle, there s no public transport to the hill station. You can also rent Jeeps, Car, and bike to hill station if that is out of your budget there is always an alternative way, there is a private bus which goes to Baba budan hills daily at 9:00AM, the ticket price is ₹60 for two ways.

The bus will reach at 10:00AM the same bus will come back at 2:00PM in between this time we can do a 3KM trek to Manikyadhara Falls, Datta Peeta, and Baba Budan Dargha.
